Jerusalem and The Church of the Holy Sepulchre

Today is Good Friday, the most solemn day on the Christian calendar.

I spent this afternoon reflecting on our trip to Israel back in 2007.  I specifically recall the raw emotion and spiritual transformation we experienced as we walked the Villa Dolorosa, starting in the Garden of Gethsemane end ending in one of the most spiritual and diverse houses of worship in the world.

The Church is home to several Christian sects, each with their own altars - Greeks. Romans, Armenians and Coptics, and is believed to be built over the site of the crucifixion.

2007 was the year we lost my beloved father, and that was indeed an ironically bittersweet vacation.  Odd that we chose this year to see the Holy Land, yet amazingly, it ended up being such a great comfort to us.  Praying beneath the Wall in Jerusalem was a solemn event, and observing the Jewish people do so made me realize how much we all have in common - devotion can be expressed in many ways, but the hearts from which it emanates are much the same!

Hearing the Beatitudes read from a boat under a cove in that eponymous Mount, letting nature amplify the voice made me see there really is surely something greater out there for us all!

Wishing all my valued clients who celebrate the blessings of this Easter Season!
