Juneau – Whale Watching & Mendenhall Glacier

Today we leave the big boat for our first-ever whale-watching cruise. These sea-borne mammals are one of nature's true wonders, and we are now rather acclimated to the beauty of this region and looking forward to an opportunity to experience it up-close from the small charter boat before heading to the glacier, where there is a Tourist Center and more wildlife to spot. From there we will take the shuttle back to town to enjoy a little local fare!

Well it isn't exactly Santorini (I'm jaded when it comes to funiculars!) but it sure is stunning up here!

After a brilliant time whale-watching, we are headed up top to try the vistas in Juneau from a different vantage point.

I have by now, through the miracles of valium, managed to overcome my fear of heights, which is good, because we are off to one more plane ride tomorrow before a peaceful day at sea and our disembarkation in Vancouver where we will spend 2 more fabulous days with the Mullocks and the Cooks before heading back to reality!
