The Palazzo Las Vegas è Magnifico

We spent five wonderful days in the Palazzo, Las Vegas this past May.

A combination of business and pleasure, this is our first time attending a conference in the Hotel, and their staff are to be commended for running our event and three others with militaristic precision.

The Casino Hosts in Club Grazie are the best in the business, and upon our arrival we are greeted by name at the desk, escorted to our suite where fresh flowers, full marble bath with separate lavatory and a sunken living room with magnificent views of the Strip are ours to bask in for the next five days.

The room is perfectly fitted out for even the most ambitious road warrior!  I never needed to pull my portable power strip (I never leave home without it!) to charge my laptop, 2 cell phones and 2 tablets. There is even a Canon multi-function printer, making short order of the printout of our boarding passes the night before we fly home.  Clearly, these suites are designed for business and pleasure in equal parts!

There are so many fine dining choices we do not know where to begin! Delmonico's Steakhouse rivals its big sister in NYC and is a favorite of ours. As we stayed mid-week, we were welcomed as walk-ins (reservations are highly recommended Friday through Sunday). The eponymous Delmonico rib-eye is tender, flavorful, and cooked to perfection! Equally enjoyable is Canaletto with its faux Venice atmosphere, maze of stucco buildings, canals replete with Gondolas that really do look like the real thing, and a string orchestra and playing Italian love songs (hey, if you can't get to Venice, the Venetian and Palazzo are good close second!). The dining is remarkably authentic northern Italian, down to the Maitre 'd who hails from Veneto and speaks only in his native tongue to the waiters.

We found the days in May seasonably mild (90-95 degrees).

The gaming and nightlife here are second to none, and we manage to keep most of our money this time. The pools and Spa are pure luxury, and by the time the conferences break mid-day, we are hard pressed to decide whether to take in a show (I think we heard the entire score of Phantom on our countless elevator rides), try our luck at the slots, or just bask in the tub in our Suite! We had a stellar, first-class stay at this property and will return in the fall to enjoy it, this time, without the work!
