Alaska’s Inside Passage

We have been privileged indeed to have spent the last 2 days onboard the Golden Princess, enjoying some of the most bespoke scenery in the United States.

The experience is made all the more enjoyable as we are sharing it with our dear friends Kevin, Tanya, Kellie and Al.

There are likely fewer places at the top of everyone’s bucket list than Alaska.  We have sent hundreds of lucky guests into this region but until now, have not been fortunate enough to experience it first-hand.

Suffice it to say that neither words nor photos could do justice to this unspoiled amalgam of ice floes and bergs, wildlife, sea life and birds. Everywhere around us, we sense the wonder of the Great Creator, and are awed at how anyone, even with the prospect of gold, could have opted to settle in this frigid wilderness in the absence of modern amentias,  Our forefathers were far tougher than this generation, and for good reason – their survival depended upon it!

Having stopped to catch my breath, I can only attempt to describe the hauntingly azure serentiy, broken by the maw of a sea bird or the thashing of a whale breaking the silent surface of the sea.  Even the ship is quiet, as if we are all experiencing a group hypnotism.  Her engines are slowed to mere coasting so as not to disturb this pristene ecosystem.
